Even the birds have trouble finding a quiet place to have a rest! These pelicans were using the lights on the top of the poles! The lights are overlooking the boat launch at Tin Can Bay. First I saw one bird - then two - and it was just too much effort for any of them to lift a head and look like a proper pelican!

Mid Summer on the Bay
This is typical mid-summer weather in our area. The only changes are occasional showers and storms and then the sun comes out again and the rain evaporates and it all turns into a sauna! Of course the visitors love it all and there are extra people and boats everywhere.

Beautiful ! In my area it is snowing! :)
ReplyDeletePretty scenes with the water and boats. Cool shots of the Pelicans, they have just enough room on top. Great series of photos!
ReplyDeleteI wish you and your family a very happy, healthy New Year!
I wish we had some of that sunshine and blue skies. Pelicans too. Happy New Year Mick
ReplyDeleteBeautiful views of the water. What are the spider-like things on the lamp arm? What do they keep from perching there? I like the name Tin Can Bay and I bet there is a story there.
ReplyDeleteoh, so cute! love the blues you have!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I guess the pelicans feel safe way up there!
ReplyDeleteYou must have been there at pelican nap time. I love your Christmas weather and indeed am enjoying similar temps (and similar pelicans) here in Florida. And yes we'd rather be here than in the ice museum too! Especially this time of year, when Alaska is so dark. I think that would be almost worse than the cold. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI agree with EG!! I would guess the pelicans do indeed feel safe there!! Terrific!!
ReplyDeleteGreat pics, the Pelicans are wonderful, it looks very pretty up where you are.

Ha, ha! Love the pics of the birds roosting on the streetlight.
ReplyDeleteGreat Pelican shots. Happy New Year
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Mick! I thought of you as I went through the Australian part of the San Diego Zoo. I was able to view those cool looking Cormorants you have that have the white fronts. They act differently than our cormorants here. I was also able to close to the Pelicans seen wild in your post. Amazing birds you have over there. I was so glad to have had the opportunity to study your birds.
ReplyDeletewell, that was funny. Such an unexpected place for that large bird to take a nap.
ReplyDeleteWishing you a Happy New Year :)
Such a beautiful, sunny place! Love the pelicans...everyone seems to be enjoying it there.
ReplyDeleteThe small spaces that Pelican can perch on are remarkable really.
