They are fascinating plants Mick - such a pity that they are so often ignored ...and damaged. Your salt marsh observations are very interesting, thank you. Cheers Barbara
Thanks Barbara, and I feel that I am only just beginning to understand these salt marshes. This year has been particularly interesting as all the rain has brought down quite a lot of sediment and it remains to be seen what this will do to parts of the area.
Great info here and the photos are wonderful. I esp. love the bee on the sarcornia/whatever we are calling it these days/marsh plant. Try eating it, it's delicious if you are into salt.
Hi Nicole, Good luck! And if you ever get out here remember that the country areas away from the main centers of population are quite different from the cities. Many tourists never see more than the cities and tourist destinations :-(
Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWould love to see that all with my own eyes one day :)
Hi Nicole, Glad you liked it. btw we love showing visitors around!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mick for another page well worth reading. And a great reference tool.
ReplyDeleteThanks Neil, and thanks for your help in finding and ID'ing some of these plants.

ReplyDeleteHi Robin, yes I've tried eating it but not in any quantity. I understand that blanching makes it very nice as a vege.
ReplyDeleteMaybe one day I make it ;)
ReplyDeleteHi Nicole, it's worth coming!
ReplyDeleteI bet! Wish there were some jobs for hubby so we could stay a while :D
ReplyDeleteHi Nicole, that would be great. I'm completely out of touch with the job market as I'm retired and my only son is working overseas.
ReplyDeleteHubs always keeps an eye on things, but so far nothing :/
ReplyDeleteOh well, maybe one day ;)
