This post is for World Bird Wednesday.
The other week I posted about Black Swans I had seen down here on the bay. However, none of the photos was close enough to show any details of the birds. So I went into my photo archives and found some that I took some time ago. If you want to get close to birds then go somewhere that the birds have become used to people close to them! These photos were taken in one of the parks right in Gympie - the closest town center to where I live.
They're impressive!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
ReplyDeleteHiya Mick,
ReplyDeleteI have some black swan pictures, but none where the water was still enough to get such a lovely reflection.
We have had a regular pair of Black Swans on my local lakes in Northwich UK for a number of years. They have had young for a few years now but they always get predated. Lovely birds to see.
ReplyDeleteI love them. I have to look through my photos from NZ to see if I have any shots. It disturbes me that I think there were some red markings I saw on them.
ReplyDeleteThanks for showing these.
Lovely reflections, I think the black swans are prettier than the white. Great shots.
ReplyDeleteThese photos give a very good idea of the Black Swan's lovely appearance. They are also skillfully and artistically captured images.
ReplyDeleteWe get ocassional sightings of these that have escaped into the wild.
ReplyDeleteI like the work you have done on the 'Flyways' page.
AWESOME to see the cygnet with the parent...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful birds, and a great reflection. I've very seldom seen swans and never a black swan. Thanks for this post.
ReplyDeleteFairy Wrens are difficult to photograph - which is why I was pleased when the pair in my pictures stayed on the same branch for a little while.
ReplyDeleteI remember the surprise I got when I first saw black swans! Splendid birds.
Cheers - Stewart M - Melbourne,
A lovely family of swans! :)
ReplyDeleteLovely shots of the black swans - I had seen some before but only in a zoo. Strange to see the pale cygnets.
ReplyDeleteNever seen a black swan. A nice set of images and a beautiful bird. Bravo!
ReplyDeleteWhat you say makes a world of sense. If you want close up pictures go where the birds are used to people. I need to absorb this. The birds around here are very distrustful of me and I don't understand it seeing that I spend half my check feeding them.
ReplyDeleteWe only have white swan here in Sweden so when I went to New Zealand for the first time I saw black - I could not believe it.
ReplyDeleteI am happy that I made you laugh with my photo, MB
Very stately birds! I like how you captured their reflectons. Kudos on a job well done!
