Sulphur-crested Cockatoo

Of all the birds that come into my yard this one has to be the noisiest and most destructive. This one sat up in the tree demolishing seed pods and when it had finished I had a mess to clean up under the tree. It was not worried about me right under the tree photographing its antics - just watched me out of those bright eyes as closely as I was watching it.

Hi Mick, They are certainly the most destructive. Our driveway is littered with Acacia mangium pods. Appearently parrots are left footed as yours is displaying

Hi Allen, that's very interesting about parrot's being left footed. I had not idea - must go back and look at some other photos.

Lefties rule, OK!?

Cool to see a common pet bird in the USA in its natural habitat. It is native there, right?

Hi Tony, that lefty sure thinks he rules! No comment on the others!!

Hi Birding is Fun, yes they are natives - and natural pests and nuisances. I've had them sit down the back and scream at me for daring to chase them off my fruit trees.

They sure are beautiful, but you're probably lucky there was only one about at that time!

That's really interesting about the left-footedness.

Hi Snail, Yes I'm very glad they don't make my garden a regular place to visit! It's only this one tree that is attracting them right now and I am in the process of getting rid or it! I can't cope with a tree that sheds so many seeds that then try to take over the rest of the garden!
