Yesterday felt more like summer than spring and the weather bureau is promising/warning that there will be no more cold weather this year! The plants in my garden are showing the same signs. The jasmine is covered with buds and will soon be covered with flowers. I think there's nothing quite so nice as jasmine perfume around my garden.
My little Banksia rose has its first flowers just coming out. The flowers are tiny - about 10 or 12 mm. They are perfumed and even better the bush has no thorns. I have two bushes planted side by side. The flowers on one are white and on the other a creamy yellow.
Nice to see Spring is in the air great photos.
ReplyDeleteThanks Neil.
ReplyDeleteThe weather does feel like spring bit . Nice capture!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. Little can beat the scent of Jasmine in the garden. I lost my last one and keep forgetting to replace it.
ReplyDeleteHi Madahmas, the temp is going up to the high 20s again by the week-end - that's more like summer weather I guess. Plus its so dry I am going to have to start watering the plants that are not yet well established.
ReplyDeleteHi John, I didn't realize it would grow up in your climate. Do you have to do anything special to it during the winter weather?
Oooh Jasmine - lovely stuff; that's a stunning picture of the buds Mick.
ReplyDeleteToday we've had temperatures up to 30 degrees - as our summer is coming to an end!
Thanks Tricia, it doesn't really sound like the end of the summer with temps that high! The weather forecasters are predicting 30 degrees for us also over this weekend. Oh well, I need to do a bird count so it will be pleasant on the water as long as the wind doesn't get up!
ReplyDeleteSpring is great, Mick.
ReplyDeleteCheers
Denis
Thanks Denis.
ReplyDeleteHi Mick. I keep forgetting to reply to your question. Some Jasmine is render and needs a greenhouse, some are fine if grown on a South facing wall and sheltered from the wind. Winter Jasmine seems pretty hardy.
ReplyDeleteHey Mick, I can smell the fragrance from those two excellent specimens from way over here. We are moving towards Autumn & now selling spring flowering bulbs. FAB
ReplyDeleteHi John, thanks for the info. Hope you can get another plant and enjoy the perfume from that.
ReplyDeleteHi Frank, Spring flowering bulbs are a little difficult right here unless you manage to get a micro climate that suits them - otherwise its a bit too hot. I grew up in NZ seeing whole fields full of them and that was very beautiful.
