Galahs are a common sight around here but not right in my yard. However, the other day I looked over the fence and there were some feeding in the long grass next door.

Before I got very close they flew up into the big pine tree. This one started preening its feathers but kept a close eye on me all the time.

What a beautiful bird! I've found a huge book called "Every Australian Bird Illustrated" in my workplace's library. Striking bird life you have over there, mick!

Very nice images... a beautiful bird... thanks for dropping by to visit my Sharp-shinned hawk! :-) (have been to Australia but only to Sydney, Blue Mountains and Depot Beach... MUST go back)
Love your "common" birds. This one looks very exotic.
The closest I will probably ever come to one of these guys is in a pet store! Be happy your "common" birds are so cool!
Galahs are gorgeous! I've seen huge flocks in documentaries and it's amazing but I also heard they can destroy cultivated fields...
