5 Minute Birdwatch

This post is for World Bird Wednesday.

The weather has not been good for photographing birds over the last few days - high winds and heavy showers with only brief breaks of sunshine. I could hear birds in the grevillea tree in my backyard so went out with the camera to see what I could get between rain showers. The result - 4 different species in just 5 minutes.
Rainbow Lorikeet (Trichoglossus haematodus)
Noisy Friarbird (Philemon corniculatus)
Little Friarbird (Philemon citreogularis)
Spangled Drongo (Dicrurus bracteatus)

  2. G'day Mick,
A very nice 5 minutes worth! Being Victorian, I can't help the next comment - pity about the weather.
    Regards,
    Gouldiae.

  7. That's the way to optimise your birding time Mick. The mind boggles at what you might have seen if you'd stayed out 10 minutes! The grevillea tree is an awsome looking perch too. Excellent!

  9. Hi there - good point about the Eastern Yellow - maybe I should engage the brain before I type!

Or maybe I should have done Magpies (which are not magpies!) / Magpie Geese (which is not a magpie or a goose!)/ Magpie Larks (which may not be either a lark or a magpie!)!

Great work for 5 minutes! Spent a long time a few weeks back looking at friar birds, trying to work out which was which.

    Cheers SM
